Let Derrick Kershaw Partnership Manage your CDM Responsibilities

Let Derrick Kershaw Partnership Manage your CDM Responsibilities

From the 6th April 2007 for any construction work lasting more than 30 days or involving more than 500 person days, you are required to appoint a CDM co-ordinator - doing so early is vital for the effective planning and management of any project.

What is CDM?

The key aim of CDM2007 is to integrate health and safety into the management of construction projects and to encourage everyone involved to work together to:-

  • Improve planning and management of construction projects from the start;
  • Identify hazards early on, so they can be eliminated or reduced at the design or planning stage and the remaining risks can be properly managed;
  • Target effort where it can do the most good in terms of health and safety; and
  • Discourage unnecessary bureaucracy.

Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM2007), which came into force on 6 April 2007, you are accountable for the impact your approach has on the health and safety of those working on or affected by a project.

You are required to appoint a CDM co-ordinator - doing so early is vital for the effective planning and management of any project.
