Work on Alfred Bean Hospital is complete.

A £1.3 million programme of refurbishment to enhance the clinical and physical environment for patients, staff and visitors at Alfred Bean Hospital, Driffield is now complete.  Derrick Kershaw Partnership acted as Quantity Surveyor and CDM Coordinator on the project. 

The work, which started in December 2010 involved the reconstruction of the Day Hospital including providing two new treatment rooms to expand the range of day treatments and provide a more comfortable environment for patient recovery.  In addition the project also aimed at improving the environment of the hospital so that it meets modern infection control requirements and is fit for purpose for the future.

Other improvement work has included:

  • transformation of the entrance and main reception into a more accessible, welcoming area with views of the courtyard garden and seating area for patients waiting for transport
  • refurbishment of the Minor Injuries Unit
  • a new fully compliant dedicated ultrasound facility with changing room
  • a new floor for physiotherapy gym and refurbished treatment cubicle area for Musculoskeletal patients
  • refurbishment of the office base for community nursing teams
  • improved waiting areas
  • new pre-assessment area in the outpatients department offering improved privacy and dignity
  • purchase of land and preparation works for a new car park to provide a further 35 car parking spaces allowing more space at the front of the building for disabled parking
  • more energy efficient heating and lighting systems
  • new baby change room, assisted toilet and disabled toilet facilities
