Building has started on the new East Riding Community Hospital

Building has started on the new £19 million East Riding Hospital in Beverley where Derrick Kershaw Partnership acts as Cost Advisor to the Trust and CDM Coordinator.  The new hospital replaces the town's ageing 12 bed Westwood hospital and is seen to be better located at the new Swinemoor Lane site.

The new hospital site was selected on the basis of its accessibility for both the local Beverley population and those in adjacent towns and villages, however the rural positioning was not without its problems after the discovery on site of the Great Crested Newt.  The discovery of the newt, protected by European and British Law, meant a full survey had to be carried out.

Necessary work was done to safeguard the ecology of the site and we are pleased to report that building has now started!
