St Luke's Hospital - Demolition and New Car Parking Facilities

The project entailed the demolition of four redundant 2 and 3 storey Victorian Buildings, that occupied a significant area of the total hospital site, to make way for new staff car parking facilities.  The main priorities of the client were that this should be a safe demolition and that disruption to patient services and care in the main hospital complex be kept to a minimum.

The demolition also entailed the removal of asbestos and the diversion of services/utilities.  The revenue from the salvage of stone and slate was used to considerably offset the costs of the project.

DKP acted as Quantity Surveyor and CDM Coordinator on the project.  DKP advised on the most appropriate procurement strategy for demolition which very much revolved around ensuring that health and safety was paramount.
